Mapa das Ideias took part in an international study visit dedicated to sustainability and heritage.

On 28 and 29 March 2025, Mapa das Ideias took part in the study visit of the European project Green Heritage – Nurturing a Sustainable Future in the Gardens of Timethat took place in Ostia Antica, Italy. This initiative is part of a transnational effort to rethink the way heritage spaces are managed, valuing their environmental, historical and social dimensions.

The meeting brought together partners and experts from various European institutions, promoting an environment for sharing good practices, debating ideas and discovering innovative methodologies. For two days, participants had the opportunity to explore the relationship between ruins and landscape, between past and future, and between conservation and community participation.

The programme included visits to the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park, the Isola Sacra Necropolis and the Agro Pontino Museum. At these sites, we reflected on the importance of integrating sustainable strategies into heritage management, actively involving communities and promoting a more aware and informed cultural citizenship.

The Green Heritage is a European project that aims to:
- Promote the transnational exchange of good practices in the area of sustainability and heritage
- Strengthen environmental and heritage conservation efforts in a European context
- Build a community of practice based on shared values and local experiences

Mapa das Ideias' participation in this project reinforces its commitment to lifelong education, the valorisation of heritage as a tool for active citizenship and the involvement of communities in processes of sustainable transformation.

We believe that building a more sustainable future involves recognising the value of places, their histories and the people who inhabit them - and creating bridges between knowledge, practice and participation.
