We live at a time when the impact of climate change on human societies is widely recognised, but we rarely look to the past and the archaeological records that document the resilience or adaptation of previous civilisations. The Green Heritage project was born to activate environmental learning through archaeological sites, using their histories and material remains to promote sustainability and ecological thinking among new generations.

This innovative project will transform archaeological parks into dynamic classrooms, where the sustainable practices of the past illuminate the actions of the present. By creating a network of educators, heritage managers and other stakeholders, Green Heritage will encourage the sharing of good practices in promoting sustainability. To this end, Green Heritage Laboratories will be developed in several European cities - Belgrade, Rome, Córdoba, Cáceres and Izola - and a Community of Practice will be structured to strengthen international cooperation in this area.

Mapa, recognised for its vast experience in the management and interpretation of cultural heritage, is one of the partners in the Green Heritage project. Combining innovation and tradition and with a strong commitment to connecting past and present, Mapa will play a key role in setting up the Green Heritage Laboratories and articulating the Community of Practice, bringing together educators, managers and experts to build a sustainable legacy for future generations.
