Mapa das Ideias was invited by National Arts Plan to provide methodological and logistical support for the design and production of the Porto Santo Charter and the Conference to mark its launch, which begins today, 27 April, on the island of Porto Santo and online.
The Porto Santo Charter offers another significant compass for discussing Cultural Democracy and Citizenship, mapping the intricate links between educational and cultural institutions.
It is a democratic and collective effort that involved more than two dozen European organisations and an equal number of representatives from the ministries of culture and education of the EU member states.
It is a milestone on the Portuguese Presidency's agenda. We hope it will be the cornerstone for a continuous and fruitful debate promoted by European organisations and professionals in education and culture.
Find out more about this ambitious project and follow this inspiring 2-day conference with Jacques Rancière, Chantal Mouffe, Maria Acaso, Wayne Modest and Maria Lind, among many others, on the Charter's website at www.portosantocharter.eu
