Mapa das Ideias was hired by Vila do Bispo City Council as an external consultant to create the shop for the new Vila do Bispo Museum - History Barn, which opened on 20th January 2024.

The project was carried out between October 2023 and January 2024 and was based on 10 main thematic areas:

1. Archaeology and Archaeological Heritage (emphasis on the megalithic menhirs, 'from the amphora to the tin can')
2. Palaeontology and Dinosaurs 
3. Nature and Biodiversity (Flora and Fauna: floristic endemism, cetaceans, whales, orcas, Triops vicentinus...)
4. Birdlife and Birdwatching (scientific drawing...)  
5. Ethnography and local traditions (fishing, agriculture, grazing, barnacle gathering, gastronomy...)
6. Geography and the End of the World Cape ("Where the Earth ends and the Sea begins", concepts of "End of the World", "Welcome to the end of the World"...)
7. The 4 elements: EARTH, SEA, WIND & SUN
8. Historical Heritage (Discoveries, Navigations, Infante D. Henrique the Navigator and naval battles)
9. Mysticism and Religiosity (Promunturium Sacrum, Cabo Sagrado, Sagres, São Vicente...) 
10. Nautical Sports and Activities (waves, Surf & Bodyboard, nautical iconography: anchor, lighthouse, wave, ropes, knots, octopus, whales, crab, hook...)

We hired designer Rui Melo to develop these themes in collections by type: t-shirts, hoodies, totebags, panamas, mugs and bottles, pencils, badges and magnets, bracelets and lanyards, stationery, postcards.

We've also created handmade stamps with the Bio collection, designer jewellery from the sea and land collection, prints and jewellery from the sea and land collection, editions, games and toys for dinosaurs, birds, fish, flora, archaeology, explorers and pirates. We combined it with seeds and soaps from the nature collection.
