The Sagres Fortress, the most visited monument south of the Tagus, reopened the Promontory Shop in October 2018, with a renewed concept, in partnership with the company Mapa das Ideias.
With a clear vision of the responsibility that a shop in a heritage space has, and its importance in the continuity of the visitor's cultural experience, the shop provides a historical and scientific narrative, but also an up to date one, giving space to the narratives of current authors and artists. The connotation of the object, as an enhancer of cultural experiences, as a single piece, and inserted in the context of a museum, will have added VALUE for the end customer.
The shop is aimed at the institution and its visitors, because we know how important it is to extend the cultural experience and provide the acquisition of objects that act as mementos of the experience.
The shop's central themes: PORTUGUESE HISTORY AND EXPANSION and NATURAL HERITAGE
All the objects are intentional choices of these narratives, as is their distribution in the shop, in different environments that allow us to perceive the different zones, with emphasis on the specialised bookshop area and the children's area - both spaces with comfort zones, to be and enjoy - both the objects and the surrounding landscape. The entrance was intentionally cleared of objects for sale, giving way to an artistic intervention that refers to the symbolism of the Promontory itself.
