Iolanda began her career in Graphic Communication Design at the secondary school with a technical qualification. She later graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and has a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Newcastle. For several years, she worked as a mediator in educational and cultural projects in England and Northern Ireland. She was a member of the board of Platform Arts, a studio and gallery space, where she was in charge for the marketing and the production of graphic materials, as well as project management.
She returned to Portugal in 2019, when she joined Mapa das Ideias. She is currently responsible for the retail area's communication.




Between making sense of what surrounds us and constructing other meanings, imagination can be a valuable guide to creating new possibilities. My object is a piece of bamboo cane that when opened reveals various scenes, small possible stories. Narratives bring us closer together and give us a broader understanding of the world, if we know how to go beyond current reality and certainties.
